Private trading between purchasers and sellers is the most common practice of horse sales in Korea. Auctions for thoroughbred horses commenced in 1998 and are becoming popular among owners. As of 2012, there were 5 two-year-olds sales, 2 yearling sales, and 1 mixed sales held in Korea. A total of 688 horses were offered and 285 horses were sold in 2012.
