In the past, more importance was placed on the breeding of horses than training. However, of recent times breaking in and training has received more attention, with better educated horses being produced. Systematic breaking and training started with the opening of the KRA Jeju Stud Farm in 1995. After 2000, private training farms started to appear, followed by the opening in 2007 of the KRA Jangsu Stud Farm. The Jangsu Stud Farm training facilities are of first class standard and its opening heralds a new era in improving the quality of race horses in Korea.
